Restaurants & Dining in Las Vegas

Dining in Las Vegas is hugely under-rated, often by those who have never visited. You could be forgiven for thinking that the food in Las Vegas is predominantly fast food, that is burgers, pizzas, French fries and all you can eat buffets.  Of course all that is available but in reality, when it comes to choice and availability, the restaurants in Las Vegas are actually exceptional with a tremendous variety from which to choose and many award winning. Some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas can be found in the hotels themselves. Indeed some of the best restaurants in the USA can be found in Las Vegas, and when you think about it, it stands to reason – Las Vegas attracts from all walks of life, especially those with a huge amount of cash at the bank and who have the desire the very best things in life.

Dining in Las Vegas

Cuisine and delicacies from around the world can be found quite easily in Las Vegas and Las Vegas is host to some of the best, award winning Chefs to ensure your experience of dining in Las Vegas is a memorable one.

If you are planning to eat out, particularly in some of the many fine dining restaurants in Las Vegas, to avoid disappointment, always try to make advance reservations and do also check if they have a dress code to follow.

Firstly, many prefer burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches or buffets and often the main reason for this is two-fold – it is cheap and it is quick and more often than not, they are open 24/7. When on holiday in Las Vegas for just a few days or a weekend, there is so much to see and do that a common view on eating food in Las Vegas is to not waste too much time eating! Dining in Las Vegas none the less can be done very inexpensively, as an example, big breakfasts can be had for around $3.

Go up-market from this and you will still find restaurants in Las Vegas that are relatively inexpensive.  Many top hotels have low-mid range restaurants to cater for all pockets. For example, the Luxor offers a Deli and La Salsa; the Sherwood Forest Café in the Excalibur Hotel; Raffles Café and Red/White and Blue in the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

Dining in Las Vegas

When in Las Vegas, many of us want a good old hearty steak and you won’t be disappointed when dining in Las Vegas! On the Strip, you will discover a number of upscale steak houses serving a huge variety of steaks, indeed every kind of beef imaginable. For a truly mouth-watering rib-eye steak, you must visit the Delmonico Steakhouse at The Venetian Hotel.

For aged beef as well as seafood, try the Charley Palmer Steak next to the Four Seasons Hotel.

A more recent addition to the fine collection of steakhouses in Las Vegas is at the Palazzo, where Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro provide a Gallic culinary twist.

For something a little different, go to Caesar’s Palace for some innovative farm fresh food and delicacies such as halibut and opah together with wonderful surroundings from Bradley Ogden’s.

For fantastic Las Vegas cityscape views visit Alize created by André Rochat on the 56th floor of the Palms.

For the vibrancy of the Mediterranean and top notch Italian design, try the Terra Verde at the Green Valley Ranch.  The name may ring some bells as it has been made famous by Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen where chef Rock Harper rose to fame.

Still on the Italian theme, if you are looking for one of the best Italian restaurants in Las Vegas, you must try ‘Olives’. Located on the Strip, celebrity chef Todd English creates his masterpieces in luxurious surroundings.

For fine dining experiences in Las Vegas, there are countless opportunities.

The Bellagio is one of the best when it comes to fine dining in Las Vegas.  Home to some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas in addition to some of the best chefs in the world, the Bellagio provides casual and dining restaurant options;

Le Cirque offers lively French cuisine and has won the AAA Five Diamond Award on two occasions.
Picasso has won four awards and offers seasonal cuisine.

For the most delicious and mouthwatering sweet and savouries you should pay a visit to Jean Phillipe Patisserie where you will be tempted with a variety of goodies.

For the open kitchen experience, Sensi also in the Bellagio features Italian, Asian and seafood where the focus is on the classic and traditional. Here top chef Martin Heierling has an ingredient driven appetite where presentation comes secondary.

Fine Dining in Las Vegas

There is no shortage of celebrity chefs in Las Vegas restaurants;

  • Delmonico and Thomas Keller’s Bouchon at the Venetian Hotel
  • Nobu Matsuhisa’s Nobu is at the Hard Rock Hotel
  • Michael Mina’s Seablue and Nobhill at the MGM Grand
  • Bobby Fray’s Mesa Grill at Caesars Palace

If you are looking to impress or perhaps are planning to break the big question, equally famous and with a similar reputation for fine cuisine, the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in the replica Eiffel tower at Paris Las Vegas Hotel can indeed be compared to its Parisian counterpart. In Paris you have views of the Seine; here you have prominent views of the Strip.

The revolving Top of the World Restaurant is located at the top of the Stratosphere Tower. Don’t be put off by the restaurant revolving as it takes eighty minutes for a complete revolution so unlikely to put you off your meal!

Of course, wine lovers are not forgotten in Las Vegas. The afore mentioned Delmonico Steakhouse in the Venetian, Picasso at the Bellagio, Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas, not to mention the N9NE at the Palms and Andre’s French Restaurant all have serious wine collections into the thousands.  Of course, Las Vegas is home to a large percentage of the U.S.A master sommeliers.

When in Las Vegas, be sure to pop into the Aureole Restaurant in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and select your vintage from a 42 ft temperature controlled wine tower holding some 10,000 bottles.
